FAIRFIELD — Three teens were taken to the hospital for evaluation after the car they were in hit a curb and a utility pole Sunday afternoon on Mountain Laurel Road.

An 18-year-old local resident was behind the wheel of the 1996 BMW. He told police they were driving to a friend’s house in order to go swimming. The police report stated there was a strong odor of alcohol on the driver.

All three were taken to St. Vincent’s Medical Center in Bridgeport for evaluation, and accident is under investigation.
