The owner of a rental home on Unquowa Road called police to report someone had stolen copper piping from the house, which was vacant.
The theft took place between 2 p.m. Feb. 24 and noon Feb. 25, and left the basement flooded with several inches of water, according to the report. A basement window had been smashed to gain entry, and the vehicle used to take away the stolen pipe had been pulled into the garage, as evidenced by tire tracks in the snow, police said.
The value of the damage and the stolen copper piping was estimated at several thousand dollars.
