Things to do in Fairfield this weekend

OK, so Fairfield's weather hasn't been exactly "spring like" yet, but don't let that keep you indoors this weekend. Here are a few things you can do:
On Friday, find out what your kids are crazy about by attending a performance of "High School Musical Junior" at Tomlinson Middle School, 200 Unquowa Road. The curtain rises on the drama club's 7:30 p.m. production of the kid-pleasing musical, with the doors opening at 7 p.m. (Same goes for a Saturday night performance.) Tickets are $10 and available at the door.
St. Patrick's Day may have come and gone, but you can still get your Irish on at Notre Dame High School's "Irish Pub Night" Saturday, featuring music by the John Whelan Band. Wine and beer will be available for purchase, but bring your own snacks. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. at the Jefferson Street school, and the concert starts at 8 p.m. Tickets are $5 per person. For reservations, call 203-372-6521.
If Irish ditties aren't your cup of tea, check out the "Piping Up" concert at 7 p.m. Saturday in St. Paul's Church, 661 Old Post Road. It will feature award-winning organists Joseph Ripka and John Abdenour, and also includes a talk about the music performed, its history and what to listen for. A dessert buffet with coffee and tea will be served. A donation of $25 is suggested, which will benefit the church's musical scholarship fund. Seats will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. For more information, call 203-259-3013 or visit www.stpaulsfairfield.org.
There's no escaping March Madness, even when the calendar says April. Congregation Beth El, 1200 Fairfield Woods Road, will host a "Games Night" at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, which will include a movie and the broadcast of NCAA basketball game between UConn and Kentucky. Refreshments including wine, cheese, soft drinks, snacks, dessert and coffee will be served. The cost is $15 per person and the public is invited. For more information, call 203-374-5544.
On Sunday, check out the Junior League of Easter Fairfield County's 19th annual Art Show at the Burr Homestead, 739 Old Post Road, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Artwork ranges from the traditional to the contemporary. Proceeds benefit the league's community outreach programs. Tickets are $7 at the door and $5 for seniors; children under 12 are free. For more information, visit www.jlefc.org.
