Don't let the fact that there's a little rain in the forecast dampen weekend plans. If you need a few ideas, we have some suggestions for you:
Start things off with a laugh or two Friday when you take in the Reduced Shakespeare Company's production of "The Complete World of Sports (abridged)" at 8 p.m. at Fairfield University's Quick Center, 1073 North Benson Road. Tickets are $25 and $35. Call 203-254-4010 or visit www.quickcenter.com for information and tickets.
Meet cookbook author and restaurant owner Jason Sobocinski at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Fairfield Cheese Company, 2090 Post Road. You can not only get a cookbook signed, but sample macaroni and cheese as well. For more information call 203-292-8194 or visit http://fairfieldcheese.com.
Need some vegetables to go with all that cheese you just learned about? Head over to the Fairfield Woods Branch Library, 1147 Fairfield Woods Road, at 2 p.m. Saturday to learn how to start a vegetable garden. The event is free, but registration is necessary. To register or for more information, visit www.fairfieldpubliclibrary.org or call 203-256-3160.
Make it a weekend to remember with a screening of "A Night to Remember" at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Fairfield Woods Branch Library, 1147 Fairfield Woods Road. The free movie is part of the town's "One Book, One Town" community reading program. Call 203-255-7307 or visit www.fairfieldpubliclibrary.org for more information.
Think outside of the box and take in the "Thinking Outside of the Box: Original 10-Minute Play Fest" at 7 p.m. Sunday at the Fairfield Museum and History Center, 270 Fairfield Beach Road. A reception will follow at 8 p.m. The plays feature local profession and pro-am actors. Admission is $5 for member and $8 for non-members.
