Things to do in Fairfield this weekend
Fuel your food fantasies or express artistic ones this weekend in Fairfield, as we say goodbye to March and hello to April (despite the showers in the forecast). Here are a few suggestions on ways to do that:
Cooking demos, food workshops and lots of vendors will be on the menu Saturday at the 3rd annual Food for Thought Expo from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Fairfield Warde High School, 755 Melville Ave. Admission is free. Call 203-362-7169 for more information.
What does "Springtime in Southport" mean to you? Express your thoughts via painted shop windows at the family event Saturday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. in Southport Village. Each participating family will be assigned to paint a window with their vision of springtime. Paint supplies and treat will be provided and the suggested donation of $10 per family will benefit Relay for Life and the American Cancer Society. For more information, call 203-259-1313. In case of rain, the event will be rescheduled for a later date.
It will be an egg-citing time Saturday at the Parks and Recreation Commission's annual Easter egg hunt at 1 p.m. at South Pine Creek soccer field on Old Dam Road. The event is open to children from pre-school to third grade, and all are encouraged to come down early and meet the Easter Bunny. A $1 per person donation is requested to benefit the Jacky Durrell Memorial Service Award scholarship fund. In case of inclement weather, call the Parks and Recreation hotline at 203-256-3144 that morning for more information.
What does the future hold for you? Find out Sunday at the Psychic Fair, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., at the Fairfield Motor Inn, 417 Post Road. Admission is free and the event even features a pet psychic, so bring a photo -- not the actual animal -- of your pet. For more information, visit www.ctpsychics.com or call 203-470-1806.
Wrap up the weekend with a free screening of "The Road to Perdition" at 2 p.m. Sunday in the Fairfield Public Library, 1080 Old Post Road. Call 203-256-3155 or visit www.fairfieldpubliclibrary.org for more information.
