In the not-too-distant future, you may find yourself snowed in. There's no chance of that happening this Fairfield weekend, however, so get off the couch and get out of the house. Here's a few suggestions:

Join the Mardi Gras party that never ends Friday when March Fourth Marching Band hits the stage at the Fairfield Theatre Co., 70 Sanford Street. A mix of swing, klezmer, hip hop, jazz, funk and reggae, the performance starts at 7 p.m. Tickets are $17 in advance and $20 at the door. Call 203-259-1036 or visit

It keeps popping up. The PopShop Market and Bar Car returns downtown Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Fairfield Theatre Co. warehouse and parking lot, 70 Sanford St. Shop for menswear from Huxter or a grilled cheese sandwich from Whey Station. For more information about the market vendors, visit

Take a walk, but not just any walk -- this walk is on the "wild" side, naturally. The Connecticut Audubon Society Center, 2325 Burr St., will host a flora and fauna walk through its preserve at 10 a.m. Saturday. It's free for Audubon members and $5 for non-members. To register, call 203-259-6305, ext. 109, or visit

Make a trip back to the 1950s with the Doo Wop Project at 8 p.m. Saturday at Sacred Heart University's Edgerton Center, 5151 Park Ave. Tickets are $30. For tickets and information, visit or call 203-371-7908.

So just what does the future hold? Try to time travel forward at a fall Psychic Fair on Sunday at the Fairfield Motor Inn, 417 Post Road. Hours are 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. and admission is free. Call 203-470-1806 or check for more information. (They know you'll be calling.)
