Things to do in Fairfield this weekend

You can use this weekend to tune up for St. Patrick's Day celebrations Monday, or just get out of the house. Here are some things to do in Fairfield:
Do you have "A Way with Words?" The Art/Place gallery, 70 Sanford St., does with its exhibit that incorporates language through visual expression. Gallery hours are noon to 4 p.m. Thursday through Sunday, and during all Fairfield Theatre Co. performances, which shares the space. On Sunday, there will be reception to meet the artists. Kick up your heels for pre-St. Patrick's Day fun with Irish step dancing Saturday at the Pequot Library, 720 Pequot Ave. The free event starts at 10:30 a.m. For more information, call 203-259-0346, ext. 18, or visit www.pequotlibrary.org
When you're done with dancing, head over to the Fairfield Public Library, 1080 Old Post Road, to hear The Kerry Boys at 3:30 p.m. Saturday. There's no charge for admission to hear the Irish balladeers. Visit www.fairfieldpubliclibrary.org or call 203-256-3161.
Get a leg up on the holiday at the 19th annual St. Patrick's Day Classic Fun Run at Jennings Beach on Sunday. In addition to the main 4-mile race, there will be a Kids Fun Run, a 1-mile Youth Race and a Family Fun Run. The events, sponsored by the Warren Street Social & Athletic Club, kick off at 10:15 a.m. The main event is at 11 a.m. Registration is $10 the day of the race. Info: http://bit.ly/O8jzEK
