FAIRFIELD — An Oldfield Road woman was arrested Oct. 6 when employees at the town’s yard waste recycling center saw her staggering outside her car in the parking lot.
Kelsa Calabrese, 48, was charged with driving under the influence and two counts of possession of a controlled substance.
After police were called, they followed her to the recycling area at the transfer station, where an officer observed her for a few minutes. According to the report, the officer could smell an odor of alcohol when he approached Calabrese, and she was seen staggering as she placed items in the recycling containers.
Police said Calabrese’s eyes were bloodshot and her speech was slurred, and she allegedly admitted to drinking.
Calabrese was unable to complete field sobriety tests. In her purse, police found three antidepressants that she said a friend had given her.
She was released after posting a $60 bond and is scheduled to appear in state Superior Court in Bridgeport Oct. 17.
