Trumbull charged with faking an accident
FAIRFIELD —A Trumbull man was arrested Friday and charged with faking an accident.
Jaiden T. Cirillo, 49, of Alden Avenue, was charged with second-degree falsely reporting an accident and misuse of the 911 system in connection with the May 31 incident in the Villa Avenue parking lot of Stop & Shop.
Cirillo called police and said he was struck by a car that was backing out of a parking space. Witnesses, however, told police that motorist stopped in time and did not hit Cirillo. Instead, they said, Cirillo threw himself onto the car’s trunk. Surveillance video from the parking lot backed up the witnesses’ version of the incident and a warrant was secured for Cirillo’s arrest.
He was released after posting a $5,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in state Superior Court in Bridgeport on July 22.
