Two charged with trying to steal disabled scooter
Two Bridgeport residents have been charged with trying to steal a scooter.
According to the scooter's owner, it had broken down and he chained it to a pole on North Benson Road underneath the Interstate 95 overpass. He was returning with a friend to pick it up around 2:30 p.m. Tuesday when he told police that he saw two people trying to take it. When he asked them what they were doing, they fled on foot toward Kinney Drive.
Police found Cesar Navarro, 19, and a 16-year-old juvenile on Round Hill Road, and the pair were identified by the scooter's owner as the theft suspects, according to the report.
Navarro, of Burroughs Road, and the juvenile, who was not identified because of his age, were both charged with criminal attempt to commit third-degree larceny and conspiracy to commit third-degree larceny.
Navarro was held on a $2,500 bond and is scheduled to appear July 9 in Bridgeport Superior Court. The juvenile was released into his uncle's custody and has a court date of July 6.
