Two-day show to celebrate Fairfield Garden Club's centennial
An event in celebration of the Fairfield Garden Club's centennial, "The Best of Times," will take place April 18-19 at the Burr Homestead, 739 Old Post Road.
The theme -- "The Best of Times" -- will be showcased in more than 100 entries presented by both garden club members and children.
Admission is free. Hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. April 18 and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. April 19.
"The Best of Times" theme is designed to showcase "the legacy of our involvement in civic projects, beautification and conservation education in Fairfield over the past 100 years," Becky Johnson, the Fairfield Garden Club president, said in publicity for the event. Andrea Hoffman, the event's co-chairwoman, said the show's divisions are inspired by classic song titles, such as "Fly Me to the Moon" and "Time Out," while "CU@8" reflects references to modern technology.
Other highlights of the show will include displays of members' photographs that complement the variety of floral designs.
The Best of Times boutique will offer a range of gardening tools and accessories. Fresh honey products that highlight the club's work at its apiary at the Ogden House will be for sale, as well as a one-of-a-kind terra-cotta pot by contemporary artist Ben Wolff. Specialty works that showcase club members' artistic talents will also be for sale.
Profits from the show are used to fund civic projects.
