UConn reports 18 new COVID-19 cases

STORRS — The University of Connnecticut recorded 18 new COVID-19 cases Wednesday, according to the university’s dashboard.

Two of the newly reported cases were among employees and affiliates, one of whom worked on campus, according to the school’s data.

In an email Wednesday afternoon, UConn spokeswoman Stephanie Reitz said nine of the new cases were found among Storrs students living on campus, while the remaining seven were Storrs students living off campus.

So far UConn officials have reported 102 residential student cases this semester, along with 143 off-campus cases. Another seven student cases have been reported at UConn’s Stamford campus, while 177 employees and affiliates have tested positive so far this academic year.

At other colleges and universities around the state:

Western Connecticut State University in Danbury reported 17 new cases last week, with eight on-campus beds in use for isolation.

Southern Connecticut State University in New Haven reported 27 new cases last week, mostly among commuter students, with eight students isolating on campus.

Quinnipiac University in Hamden reported six new cases Tuesday, with 22 active cases.

The University of Bridgeport reported 10 new cases last week.

The University of Hartford in West Hartford reported 16 new cases last week, bringing the school’s cumulative total this semester to 31.

The University of New Haven reported nine new cases in the past seven days as of Wednesday with 18 active cases.

The University of Saint Joseph reported two new cases last week.

Wesleyan University in Middletown reported three new cases so far this week, with 10 active cases as of Wednesday.

Fairfield University reported one new case Tuesday, with 12 active cases.

Sacred Heart University in Fairfield reported five new cases as of Tuesday, with 67 active cases, mostly off-campus students.

Central Connecticut State University in New Britain reported two new cases Tuesday, with no isolation beds on campus in use.

Connecticut College in New London reported two new cases so far this week with five active cases.

Yale University in New Haven reported 21 new cases over the past seven days as of Monday with 215 positive cases since Jan. 1.

Eastern Connecticut State University reported two new cases last week with six students in isolation or quarantine.
