Valentin Hribar, 70, the beloved husband of Ann (Ani) Hribar, died July 31 in Connecticut Hospice.

Born and raised in Slovenia, he came to the United States, and settled in Bridgeport with his wife and son when he was 28 years old. He worked for Turnpike Cleaners for a number of years, and later purchased the business, which he ran with his wife for 15 years.

He was a member of Holy Cross Church, and also enjoyed skiing and return visits to Slovenia.

Survivors, in addition to his wife, include a son, Ljubo Hribar, and his wife, Vera, of Monroe; two granddaughters, Jessica Ferraro, and her husband, Nicholas, of Seymour, and Danielle Hribar, of Monroe; a great-grandson, Giovanni Ferraro; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Frank Us of Fairfield, and Mili Bajec, Vinko Hribar and Miro Hribar, all of Slovenia; nieces, nephews and cousins including Theresa Testa, and Renata Herbert, both of Bridgeport. He was predeceased by his parents, Valentin and Franciska Zajec Hribar, and a brother, Franc Hribar.

Calling hours will be Tuesday, Aug. 2, from 4 to 8 p.m., in the Lesko & Polke Funeral Home, 1209 Post Road. A funeral service will take place at 9:15 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 3, in the funeral home, and 10 a.m. in Holy Cross Church led by the Revs. Alfred Pecaric and Milan Dimic. Burial be in Lawncroft Cemetery.
