WARNING: Downtown drainage work to tie up traffic flow
Updated 1:31 pm, Friday, April 1, 2011
Drainage work in Fairfield by the state Department of Transportation, at the intersection of the Post Road and Sanford Street, will begin Sunday night.
The work is expected to take two weeks and is scheduled between 7 p.m. and 5 a.m. Sundays through Thursdays. Traffic will be open in both directions during construction, but limited to one lane each way.
The DOT suggests that alternate routes be used during construction hours to ease traffic congestion through the downtown area. Funding for the project, originally scheduled for last November, is provided through a federal grant.
For more information call the town's Engineering Department at 203-256-3015.
