WSHU to host vegetarian chef
WSHU Public Radio, the area's NPR member station which broadcasts from Sacred Heart University in Fairfield, will host a talk with Claire Criscuolo, co-founder of New Haven vegetarian restaurant Claire's Corner Copia, on Tuesday, March 13.
The talk, part of the university's Join the Conversation series, will take place at 7 p.m. in the school's University Commons, 5151 Park Ave.
Criscuolo, who opened the restaurant in 1975 with her husband, Frank, will share tips and tastings from her new cookbook, "Welcome to Claire's: 35 Years of Recipes and Reflections from the Landmark Vegetarian Restaurant," according to a university news release.
Criscuolo is a certified culinary professional and former contributor to the New Haven Register, where she wrote the "My Vegetarian Kitchen" column. Her restaurant was awarded Woman's Day magazine's best sandwich in America, Connecticut Magazine's best vegetarian restaurant and New Haven Advocate's best desserts and best soup, the release said.
Books will be available for purchase, and the author will do a book-signing after the event. Admission is $5, which includes a coupon for $5 off a copy of the author's book.
