Fairfield University's Live Radio Dramas program at the school's Quick Center for the Arts will present an adaptation of H.G. Wells' "War of the Worlds" Friday, Nov. 4, and Saturday, Nov. 5. Performances will take place 8 p.m Friday, and 3 and 8 p.m. Saturday in the center's Wien Experimental Theatre, 1073 N. Benson Road.

Minor script changes have been made to the drama, originally presented in 1938 by Orson Welles' Mercury Theater on the Air as a Halloween broadcast, to portray Fairfield County as a landing zone for space aliens, according to the theater. The play will present a closed studio set showing the radio actors perform the drama as a silent drama "casually unfolds" between the actors when they are off microphone.

The drama will be presented by an ensemble of approximately 10 actors and actresses who have been involved with Radio Drama productions at the Quick Center since 2000, when the debut of the series featured "A Christmas Carol," another Welles adaptation. Some cast members were part of "The Old Time Radio Show," a weekly series broadcast from WYBC-AM in New Haven that included this season's director Joe Mango and series originator Daniel Smith.

Tickets are $25. Call the Quick Center box office at 203-254-4010 or online at
