Westhill Ousts Stamford From FCIAC Baseball Playoffs

Technically speaking, I suppose, it was Wilton that ousted Stamfor when the Warriors defeated the VIkings by a 1-0 score in Thursday's regular season finale.

Still, if the Vikings had just pushed across two runs over the course of those seven innings, the Black Knights would be gearing up for Mitch O'Meara-David Spear showdown against David Speer of Staples.

Instead, Wilton - which despite being the No. 8 seed knocked off the No. 1, 2 and 3 teams in the league this season, gets the honor.

Here's a final look at the standings:

1. Staples* 14-4

2. Darien* 13-5

3. Westhill* 12-6

— Westhill def. Trumbull & Ridgefield

4. Ridgefield* 12-6

— Ridgefield def. Trumbull

5. Trumbull* 12-6

6. Ludlowe* 11-7

— Ludlowe def. St. Joseph,

Wilton & Stamford

7. St. Joseph* 11-7

— St. Joseph def. Stamford & Wilton

8. Wilton 11-7

— Wilton def. Stamford

9. Stamford 11-7

Tuesday's matchups will include Wilton at Staples, St. Joe's at Darien, Ludlowe at Westhill, and Trumbull at Ridgefield.
