William H. Naff Jr., 72, a former resident of Fairfield, died July 30 at Tidewell Hospice House near his home in Venice, Fla.

Born March 10, 1939, in Roanoke, Va., he was the son of the late Gentra and William H Naff.

He graduated from Roanoke College in Salem, Va., in 1960 and attended the University of Bridgeport for post-graduate work.

He worked for Kemper Insurance before founding the William H. Naff Agency in Fairfield, which he ran for 25 years. He then worked for the Daniel V. Keane Agency in Bridgeport, Kaye Corp. in Westport and the NIA Group in White Plains, N.Y. He also served as a board member for the Fairfield Association of Independent Insurance Agents, Fairfield Chamber of Commerce, Insurance Commission and Pension Commission for the town of Easton, University Club of Bridgeport, Brooklawn Country Club, Fairfield County Hunt Club and American Platform Tennis Association.

He is survived by his wife, Pamela Eagan Naff of Venice; four children by a previous marriage, Elizabeth B. Fulton, her husband Michael and their children Griff, Pierce and Addie, of Stratton Mountain, Vt.; Gentra N. Curran, her husband David and their three children Hartley, Maks and Quinn, of Fairfield; Holt Naff, his wife Amy and their children, Sawyer and Laney of Fairfield; and Docia Boulin, her husband Pete and their daughter Kate, of Bethel.

A memorial service will be held 10 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 23, at Greenfield Hill Congregational Church, 1045 Old Academy Road.
