Amanda Torres, 50, of 158 Fifth St. in Bridgeport, was charged with driving under the influence early Wednesday after she was spotted slumped over her steering wheel with the car in drive, police said.

An AMR emergency medical crew notified police that Torres was asleep at the wheel, but not moving, on Post Road just after midnight. Officers found her at the Shell gas station, 32 Post Road.

Police said her breath smelled of alcohol, her eyes were bloodshot and that she failed roadside sobriety tests.

She was released on a $40 bond and is scheduled to appear June 22 in Bridgeport Superior Court.
