Molly Northrop, 21, of Georgetown, was charged with driving under the influence around 1:40 a.m. Wednesday after striking a United Illuminating pole and chain-link fence, according to police.

Northrop turned left onto Ruane Street, from the westbound side of the Post Road, but turned too widely and hit the pole and fence, police said. She failed field sobriety testing and was unable to follow directions to take the Breathalyzer test, police said.

Northrop, who posted a $100 bond, is scheduled to appear April 4 in Bridgeport Superior Court.
