Melissa Tristine-Keough, 39, of Eaton Street in Bridgeport, was charged with driving under the influence when she lost control of her car at the Black Rock Turnpike traffic circle around 1:30 a.m. Saturday.

According to the report, she was driving north on Black Rock Turnpike when she failed to negotiate the traffic circle and hit the curb, drove onto the grassy median and hit a sign.

When police arrived, no one was in the car, but Tristine-Keough was found walking on Kings Highway East near Chambers Street. Police said she was unsteady on her feet and her speech was slurred.

She failed field sobriety tests, police said, and refused to go to the hospital. In her purse police said they found a large prescription bottle filled with pills for which she did not have a prescription, including Levothyroxine, Amitriptyline, Adderall and Alprazolam.

Tristine-Keough was also charged with failure to drive right as well as possession of narcotics, failure to keep drugs in the original container and interfering with an officer. She was held on a $500 bond and is scheduled to appear Sept. 9 in Bridgeport Superior Court.
