An officer patroling the Post Road around 2:30 a.m. Thursday investigated a car with a driver slumped over and its engine running in the parking lot at Heritage Square. The car also was only partially pulled into a parking space.

The officer opened the door and put the car into park, but had to shake the woman -- Linda Tucciarone, 34, of Waterbury -- to get her to wake up, according to the report.

Tucciarone, police said, refused instructions to turn off the car's engine, and lost her balance while getting out of the vehicle. She failed field sobriety tests and later refused to take a breathalyzer test at headquarters.

Tucciarone, charged with driving under the influence, had bond set at $100, and she is scheduled to appear March 18 in Bridgeport Superior Court.
