Michael Marcello, of Fairfield, was one of 15 students nationally to receive the highest honors in an essay contest sponsored by a group that promotes ethics in education.

A junior at Christian Heritage School in Trumbull, Marcello was cited for his essay "The Value of Life" in the competition sponsored by the School for Ethical Education.

The Laws of Life essay contest drew about 2,200 entries.

Marcello's essay describes his first hunting trip deep in the woods of northern Georgia, and the experience helped him better to appreciate the natural beauty of the world and that every life has worth in its own respect.
