Catherine Albin, candidate for the Board of Finance, is smart, thorough, knows how to build consensus and conducts herself with civility no matter how tense the discussion. Her experience as former chair of the Board of Education provides the finance board a unique view of the largest percentage of our town's budget. She has an extensive background in finance and community service. I will vote for Catherine Albin on Nov. 5 for all of these compelling reasons.

But just as compelling and the clearest difference between Catherine and all other candidates is that she is the only female leader running for a seat on our Board of Finance. Fairfield needs her voice as a woman, a mother, a wife and the person who would bring the total number of women to two on the nine-member board.

Research has demonstrated that diverse groups make better decisions than their more homogeneous counterparts. Elect Catherine Albin to the Board of Finance, because she is a leader with vital knowledge, skills and experience, and because she brings balance, diversity and perspective that will help the group make the most responsible decisions for Fairfield.
