In round one of Warde vs. Westhill softball, the victor was Westhill.

The CSWA No. 2-ranked Westhill Vikings scored three runs in the first inning and held on to improve to 11--0 with a 4--2 win over No. 3 Warde on Wednesday at Warde.

"We spotted them those three runs," Warde Head Coach Gary Quiricone said. "We ran out of innings at the end."

Stacey DiLeo went 2-3 with a double in the loss and Warde starting pitcher Gina Treglia was 2-4 at the plate as well. Treglia batted as the winning run in the bottom of the seventh, but flew out to end the game.

Westhill's Casandra Kish went 3-3 in the game and had the big blow, a two-run double that put Westhill ahead in the first inning.

"One team had to lose, unfortunately it was us today," Quiricione said.

Warde will play again on Monday against No. 9 Trumbull at 4 p.m. at Trumbull High School.
