Fairfield detectives investigating ‘untimely death’
FAIRFIELD — Detectives are investigating an untimely death after a middle-aged woman was found dead in a Riverside Drive home Saturday morning, police officials said.
Police responded to a Riverside Drive home — between Turney Road and Newton Street — shortly after 10 a.m. for a welfare check, according to police Capt. Robert Kalamaras.
“While checking the area, officers located a deceased middle-aged female inside the home,” he said, adding that her name is being withheld from public release pending next of kin notification.
Kalamaras said it appears to be an isolated incident and stressed that there is “no danger to the surrounding neighborhood or its residents.”
He said detectives were still at the Riverside Drive home as of around 3 p.m. to determine “if, in fact, a crime occurred,” according to Kalamaras.
The Detective Bureau continues to investigate.
