BRIDGEPORT — Police arrested a man following a reported stabbing on Park Avenue early Sunday.

Rhonel Russell was charged with first-degree assault and second-degree breach of peace.

Police were called to the 1,00th block of Park Avenue shortly before 2 a.m. Sunday, after a caller reported a fight, and said one of the people may have been stabbed.

When police arrived, they found two people fighting in the street, said Scott Appleby, Bridgeport’s director of emergency management and communications.

The other man had a non-life-threatening stab wound to his upper leg, Appleby said. He was taken to hospital for treatment by emergency medical personnel.

Russell’s bond was set at $50,000.
