FAIRFIELD — An early Saturday morning crash on Black Rock Turnpike left one male driver dead from injuries sustained in the collision, police said.

Around 1:40 a.m., Fairfield’s 911 operators got a call reporting a single-vehicle crash on Black Rock Turnpike near Finn Street.

Emergency personnel were dispatched tot he area and found the vehicle, which crashed into a parked car and then a tree, police said.

The driver — identified by police only as “male” — was the sole person in the vehicle. Police said he was pronounced dead at the scene. The department is not yet releasing the male victim’s identification, pending notification of next of kin.

There were no other injuries caused by the incident, police said.

The Fairfield Police Crash Reconstruction Unit continues to investigate.
