Police: Bridgeport man charged with raping 12-year-old girl
BRIDGEPORT — A city man who was previously charged with sexually assaulting a young girl in Fairfield has been arrested again, this time charged with raping a girl in Bridgeport.
Victor Cruz, 45, of Denver Avenue, was charged Friday with first-degree sexual assault, risk of injury to a child and voyeurism.
He was being held in lieu of $750,000 bond.
Police said in February a school counselor reported to Bridgeport police that a 12-year-old girl had been raped by Cruz.
During a subsequent forensic interview, police said, the girl recounted that Cruz had been babysitting her while her mother was not home. She said Cruz had video recorded her with his cell phone while she was in the shower and then raped her, police said.
According to court documents, in 2008 Cruz was arrested by Fairfield police and charged with two counts of third-degree sexual assault and risk of injury to a minor. The documents state he was accused of repeatedly sexually assaulting a 6-year-old girl he had been babysitting.
However, there is no record on any disposition in the 2008 case.
