SHELTON - A man convicted in the 1980s for a series of rapes has been arrested for failing to register as a sex offender.
David Pollitt, 64, of 264 River Road, was arrested after moving back to back to Connecticut from Georgia and failing to register, police said.
Pollitt was implicated in a half dozen rapes in the Rocky Hill and New London areas and was sentenced to 45 years in prison.
He was released after serving 24 years and ordered to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life.
After protests in the state Pollitt was allowed to move to Georgia on the condition that if he did return to Connecticut he would have to notify authorities here. Police said that was not done.
