STAMFORD — Police say they should not have charged a bar manager with selling liquor illegally and that the Rumba Cafe on West Main Street has a current liquor license.

Capt. Richard Conklin said an officer on patrol early Sunday morning checked the establishment’s physical liquor license and discovered it had expired. But when police later checked with the state’s Liquor Control Division, they found out that the license was current.

Conklin said while the bar was displaying an expired license, their liquor license is current and up to date.

Juan Reyes, 32, of Bronx, New York, had been charged with illegal sale of alcohol, but police said that charge will be dropped.
