STAMFORD — A city man who police say was driving drunk under a suspended license was charged with fleeing from two accidents before crashing into a cement barrier late Sunday night.

Sgt. Jose Alvarez said Eduardo Bermudez, 34, of Joffre Avenue, rear-ended a car at a stoplight at the corner of Greyrock Place at Broad Street around 11:45 p.m. Sunday.

Alvarez said Bermudez fled the accident scene, but the other driver followed him and took a picture of his car and license plate before losing track of him.

A short while later, Alvarez said Bermudez struck another car from behind near the 200-block of Greenwich Avenue. The force of the impact pushed the first car off the road and Bermudez’s vehicle struck a cement retaining wall, Alvarez said.

Alvarez said responding officers determined Bermudez was driving drunk.

The patrol officers, he said, “matched the plates and determined that it was the same car,” which struck the woman sitting at the intersection.

Alvarez was charged with two counts each of drunk driving, driving under suspension, driving without insurance and following two closely. He was released after posting a $5,000 court-appearance bond.
