On the Market: Be part of Fairfield’s newest neighborhood
FAIRFIELD — The white clapboard Georgian colonial house with dark green shutters at 10 Meadow Ridge Road sits on a prime piece of real estate in Fairfield’s newest neighborhood.
Houses in the Heather Ridge subdivision in the Southport section of town have been under construction for several years.
This house, which was built in 2015, has several vantage points from which to enjoy the Sound views as well as the views immediately surrounding the property, which is a conservation area. The owner of the property is a designer with an incredible eye for detail, which is evident in the architecture, fine finishes, and moldings of this 6,855-square-foot residence. For instance, in the dramatic two-story family room there is a fireplace. It is gas-fueled to eliminate the need for a chimney and therefore nothing obstructs the views. On the other hand, the fireplace in the living room is wood-burning and does have a chimney.
So much thought was given to this house and property. This is not your “cookie cutter” new construction. The house sits on level ground but the front approach is sloped. On this hill, an attractive rock garden was incorporated into the landscaping. That element is quite obvious. More subtle, though no less attractive is the decorative newel post of the staircase that originates in the foyer. It contains a medallion depicting a stylized dogwood blossom, the official Fairfield town flower.
The front entrance is unusual in that it is extra wide and features French doors into the foyer from the covered porch. Inside, there are four finished floors of living space and a circular flow on the main level. Off the living room is a room with a full bath that could be used as an office or guest bedroom, depending on the needs of the family.
Between the formal dining room and gourmet kitchen there is a butler’s pantry with a marble counter, glass front cabinetry, and a beverage refrigerator. The kitchen has a wealth of amenities including a square center island topped in two-inch slab Carrera marble, marble counters, a large farm sink, a Wolf six-burner range with a griddle and pot filler, and white ceramic subway tile backsplash.

The over-sized Sub-Zero refrigerator-freezer is hidden inside a specially-created piece of furniture that resembles an armoire. The cabinetry has a mix of brushed nickel, shiny nickel and glass knobs and fixtures. Throughout the house all of the doors have high-end glass knobs. In the eat-in area there are doors to the deck and backyard.
On the second floor there is a front-to-back landing. There are four bedrooms on this floor, two are en suite and two share a Jack and Jill-style bath. The spacious master suite features a sitting room that could be used as a nursery or office, two walk-in closets, and a master bath with a soaking tub, long marble double vanity and large shower.
The finished third floor is plumbed for another bath. It has a large room with flexible use as a sixth bedroom, art studio, playroom or media room. This room has a long window seat and a second smaller window seat. There is a generous amount of attic storage on this level as well.
