Fairfield draws No. 6 Pepperdine in NCAA women’s tennis tournament
The Fairfield women’s tennis team will face host Pepperdine, the No. 6 national seed, in the program’s first NCAA tournament appearance since 2012.
Fairfield secured the tournament bid by upsetting five-time defending champion Quinnipiac in the MAAC Tournament final as Amanda Nowak, Anna Komer, Sophia Prinos and Jessica Pil winning singles matches to give the Stags the 4-3 victory. The Stags will play on either Saturday or Sunday.
Pepperdine won the West Coast Conference Tournament for the seventh season in a row. The Waves reached the Round of 16 in 2018 and advanced to the quarterfinals in 2016 and 2017.
Cal and Long Beach State will play in the other first-round match in Malibu.
