Hackett, Ngige win Faxon Law Fairfield Half Marathon titles

Hartford’s Everett Hackett won the Faxon Law Fairfield Half Marathon Sunday at Jennings Beach. Hackett won the race in 1 hour, 8 minutes.

Kenayn Monica Ngige of Lansing, Mich., won the women’s race in 1:12.55, the fastest time in over 25 years. The course record of 1:12:06 was set by Elaine VanBlunk in 1993.

Hartford’s Anna Shields was the second female finisher in 1:23:19.

New Britain’s Alex Norstrom was second in the men’s race at 1:08.33, followed by Sam Lagasse (Ithaca, NY) in 1:08.43 and Daniel Jordan (Westhampton, NY) in 1:08.58.

Joseph Walewski was the first Fairfield runner to finish in 1:19.06, good for 11th place.

Amanda Morgan was the first female runner from Fairfield to finish in 1:31.32.

In Saturday’s 5K, Leakey Kipkosgei of Springfield, Mass., won in 15:01. Lindsay Crevoiserat of Hartford was the top female runner in 5:17. Walewski was the top finisher from Fairfield in 5:29. Paige Davis was the top Fairfield finisher in 6:20.

Jason Guzik of Fairfield won the Lil’ Stags Fun Run in 2:40. Fairfield’s Nolan McGuire was second in 2:57. Grete Lennox of Pawling, NY was the top female, finishing in 3:15.
