The Fairfield Ludlowe boys indoor track and field team is looking to continue a successful run.

Ludlowe returns three captains and six notable seniors from the squad that won the FCIAC Central Division and placed fifth at the Class L meet in 2011-12.

Though the Falcons lost all-state and all-New England middle-distance runner Jack White to graduation, the Falcons will expect greatness from their experienced distance runners. Thomas Carroll was the Falcons' top-cross country runner and he, as well as captain Brian Peterson and junior Josh Archer, should make the Falcons a force in distance events.

"This team has trained hard and showed tremendous enthusiasm for the upcoming season," Ludlowe coach Dave Nulf said in an email. "Many of the guys have school records within reach, and we should send several to the postseason."

Senior captain Peter Jacobs will lead Ludlowe's sprint group. Jacobs and Ryan Arrigo both also hurdle, and Arda Kocturk and sophomore Zach Kenton are expected to

be speedy.

Thrower Rob Ficarra is a captain who, according to Nulf who is "a powerful thrower who has made great gains in his strength and fitness."

Nulf's unsure what to expect, but he is ready for his club to meet every challenge throw at it.

"It is hard to tell how all of the events will fill out, as we have a lot of holes to fill from last year and many new faces," Nulf said. "I'm looking forward to competing with this group and testing them in a variety of events to see who will step up.";
