McMahon wins wild affair over Warde

Brien McMahon was desperate, at its own 21-yard line with 1:17 remaining in the game, trailing by one point.
Forney caught a short pass and then ran 79 yards for the touchdown -- his third score of at least 79 yards in the game -- as McMahon opened its season with a 33-28 victory over stunned Warde.
Forney scored on a 98-yard run on McMahon's first play from scrimmage and then took the second half kickoff 90 yards for another touchdown. His final score made up for a late collapse by the McMahon defense as Warde had scored the go-ahead TD just moments before Forney's final electrifying run.
"We said, `Let's get the ball into Tre's hands and maybe he can make something happen,' " McMahon coach AJ Albano said. "Well, he made something happen."
Forney caught the pass from Mike Newcomb and was stuck in a crowd of tacklers along the left sideline. Somehow he broke free, reversed field and was gone.
"Forney is as quick as you can be," Warde coach Duncan DellaVolpe said. "He can really move. But we had so many hands on him we just couldn't bring him down."
Warde took the lead after a McMahon fumble with 5:30 left. Dawud Mohamed's second touchdown, a 1-yard run and two-point conversion run, gave Warde a short-lived 28-27 lead with 1:17 left
Early in the second quarter McMahon's Kyle Jordan took off on a 78-yard kickoff return for a score.
Warde took a while to bounce back from Forney's opening run. On their fourth possession they went 43 yards on 11 plays with quarterback Max Garrett sneaking in from the one to cut it to 7-6.
Jordan then caught the ensuing kickoff at his own 22 yard line and raced 78 yards for a touchdown.
Forney's second long run gave the Senators some breathing room. After Wardecut it 19-13 on Mohamed's 3-yard run in the third quarter, McMahon regain control ina seemingly unconventional -- at least for them - way. A plodding, 17-play, 64-yard drive was capped by a 1-yard TD run by Jordan. Jordan then caught the two-point conversion from quarterback Mike Newcomb to make it 27-13.
Warde closed to 27-20 when Garrett hit Ryan Brown on a 5-yard scoring play with 6:23 remaining in the game.
