Milford's Sullivan, former Prep hockey player, retires

Former Fairfield Prep defenseman Colin Sullivan of Milford has retired from pro hockey, his now-former team announced.

Sullivan spent the past three years playing in Chamonix, France, on the border with Italy. He just turned 28.

The team's release, in French, says Sullivan plans a future in the military. It includes a lengthy statement from Sullivan, talking about falling in love with skiing and with the city at the foot of Mont Blanc.

Sullivan went to Avon Old Farms after two years at Fairfield Prep. After playing his freshman year at Boston College, Sullivan went to the USHL, then completed his college career at Miami (Ohio).

He played one season in the ECHL before joining Chamonix's Pionniers in France's top league, Ligue Magnus.
