Nagy, Ford playing in N.Y. Collegiate Baseball League
Nagy, a 2010 graduate of Fairfield Ludlowe who played outfield for the past two years at Bentley College, is on the Syracuse Salt Cats. Nagy is hitting .282 with 13 runs batted in 33 games. He was named to the Eastern Division team for the NYCBL All-Star game July 8 in Houghton, N.Y. Though he has not hit any home runs in the regular season, Nagy was one of nine players selected to participate in the Home Run Derby, which he won by hitting six homers in the final round before the game.
Afterward, in the all-star game, Nagy broke up a perfect game in the sixth inning with a single to center field.
Ford, a graduate of Fairfield Warde, pitches for the Wellsville Nitros and is among the leaders in earned run average, at 2.40, which ranks him 16th. He is 23rd in innngs pitched at 41 1/3. Ford has appeared in 14 games for Wellsville, starting five with no saves and an 0-4 record. He has thrown one complete game.
Ford helped to lead SUNY Fulton-Montgomery College, in Johnstown, N.Y., to its first sub-regional appearance in the NJCAA in 18 years during the spring. Ford did some catching and was a designated hitter when he wasn't on the mound for Fulton-Montgomery. He will be attending and playing baseball for Southern Vermont College in 2014-15.
