PROVIDENCE, R.I. — Alyssa Geary’s layup sparked an 8-0 game-winning run in the fourth quarter that gave Providence a 62-52 win over Sacred Heart in a non-league women’s basketball game Wednesday afternoon.

Geary’s layup put the Friars (1-2) ahead 49-48 with 6:55 left in the game and the Pioneers (2-2) were held scoreless until Adrianne Hagood made two free throws with 1:45 remaining.

Hagood scored a team-high 21 points as the only player to reach double figures in scoring for Sacred Heart. Erin Storck scored nine points and Olivia Dabney and Candice Leatherwood chipped in seven points apiece in the loss.

The Pioneers shot 27.3 percent from the floor in the game (15-for-55) and were outrebounded 47-28.

Chanell Williams scored a game-high 25 points on 12-for-16 shooting to lead Providence.
