Legion Post 143
Fairfield American Legion Post 143 Baseball has roster positions open for its fall team for players aged 18 and younger.
The fall season is a developmental league that emphasizes fundamentals and playing time. A 10-team, 24-game schedule has been planned, with doubleheaders on Saturdays and single games on Sundays.
Games will start Sept. 6 with practices beginning Aug. 30. Deadline to sign up is Aug. 25. For registration information, please email Post Baseball General Manager Sars Ford at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Rose of Hope tennis

The Beth Davis Rose of Hope tennis tournament is scheduled for Brooklawn Country Club in Fairfield on Sept. 9, starting at 9 a.m. The tournament is a fundraiser for the Norma F. Pfriem Breast Care Center's community outreach programs, and plans to draw players from southern Fairfield County.
People's United Bank has helped to sponsor the event for more than four years.
The Breast Care Center has served more than 20,000 women and their families since it was established in 1999. The center's office is at 111 Beach Road in Fairfield.

Registration has already begun for the Fairfield Little League Girls Softball's Fall Ball season.
The league is open to any girl in town going into grades one through 10. The fall season runs from Sept. 5 through Oct. 28.
The league will field teams in the following divisions: A Ball, AA, AAA, Majors and Juniors.
Registration ends on Aug. 30 and entry fees are $85 for A Ball and $110 for all other levels. Registration can be done online at www.fllgs.org or by sending an email to email@example.com for more information.
Jr. Babe Ruth
Fairfield Junior Babe Ruth is begun accepting registration for its Fall Ball League for 13- through 15 year olds. Players who recently graduated from the Fairfield National and Fairfield American Little Leagues are also eligible to play. Players who have turned 16 since the spring Babe Ruth season finished up are eligible to play in the autumn as well.
Games will be played on weekends from Sept. 13 through Nov. 2. Games might be scheduled against teams from other towns (Westport, Bridgeport, Trumbull, Weston, Darien, Monroe, Stratford, Stamford, Greenwich, Wilton, Norwalk), league officials said.
There will be two divisions -- Prep for 12 and 13 year olds and Major for 13 through 15 year olds. Coaches recommendations will help determine some 13 year olds being able to play in the Major Division.
