Two Sacred Heart starters intend to transfer
The Sacred Heart men’s basketball team will have a different cast of characters coming off the program’s first winning season in a decade.
The Pioneers were prepared to move forward without graduating starters Jare’l Spellman and Kinnon LaRose. In the last few days, however, the list of departing players has begun to grow.
A source confirmed a report by 247sports.com that junior forward E.J. Anosike, the Pioneers’ leading scorer and rebounder, is planning to graduate in May and has entered the transfer portal with the intention of playing at another program as a graduate transfer during the 2020-21 season.
Sophomores Cameron Parker and Myles Cephas have posted on social media that they have entered the transfer portal.
Parker started 18 games before suffering a season-ending injury. Parker averaged 7.8 assists per game including an NCAA record 24 in a win over Pine Manor.
Sacred Heart posted a 10-5 record including the Pioneers’ first win in the Northeast Conference Tournament since 2009 after Parker’s injury with sophomore Aaron Clarke taking over the point guard duties.
