The Mustangs' girls cross country team remained unbeaten Tuesday when it swept Greenwich, Bridgeport Central and host Danbury at Tarywile Park to improve its dual-meet record to 6-0. For her second straight meet, Fairfield Warde senior Cate Allen finished first overall. She covered the 4-kilometer (2.512 miles) course in 15 minutes and 35 seconds.

Warde defeated Greenwich by 21-40, Danbury 18-41 and Bridgeport Central, in a shutout, 15-50.

Four other Mustangs' runner placed in the top 10 overall -- freshman Sarah Radziewicz was runner up in 16:50, followed by junior Molly Davidson (17:07) sixth, sophomore Hannah Dougherty (17:08) seventh and senior Kelly Powlishen (17:09) eighth. Sophomore Roey Mappa (17:47) was 11th and senior Leah Epstein was one second and one place behind among the 35 varsity race finishers.

The Warde boys team shut out Bridgeport Central 15-50 on Tuesday at Tarywile Park but lost to Danbury by 19-44 and Greenwich 24-33. The Mustangs' dual-meet record dropped to 4-2.

Warde senior Aidan Fiol took second place in the boys race, covering the 4K in 13:39. The next fastest Mustangs' finisher was senior Nick Gans, who placed 13th. Junior Alex Petrecca was 18th among the 59 varsity finishers.

Both Warde teams will race again on Sept. 24 in Westport in a meet with Brien McMahon, Norwalk, Ridgefield and host Staples at 4 p.m.
